Formed in Stockholm in the spring of 2021, Washing Machina are rapidly emerging as a compelling new voice in alternative rock. Their sound fuses infectious pop sensibilities with adventurous, avant-garde guitar textures, forging a distinct identity rooted in the noise-rock legacy of Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, and Pavement, while carrying the urgency and attitude of contemporary acts like Fontaines D.C., Idles, and Wet Leg. Following the critical acclaim of their early EPs Perfect Misfits and Last Bag on the Belt, Washing Machina released their ambitious debut album The Spontaneous Splendid on Lövely Records. The record showcased the band’s fearless creativity and earned praise across the alt/indie press:

The rollout has already made waves — “Debbie Lost Her Mind” was picked up by John Kennedy and played on X-Posure on Radio X, and the latest single “My Bones” drops April 30. With one more single to follow before the album lands, momentum is firmly behind them.
Renowned for their electrifying, high-energy live performances, Washing Machina have quickly become a sought-after act, opening for bands like Bdrmm and appearing at festivals such as Fools Gold.
